We have an opening for a Weekend Production Manager to plan, schedule and monitor work at Chantry, Pindar and York over the weekend shifts (Friday – Monday inclusive) to ensure the production plan and customers quality needs are met in full.

Working 12 hour shifts on a rotating 5 shift system, averaging 33.6 hours per week, the successful candidate will be responsible for processing and checking all supplied data to the necessary standards and producing final plates for press.

Duties will include: –

  • Maintaining appropriate documentation (production issues, plate remakes and maintenance sheets)
  • Producing plates to the production schedule at the required standard.
  • Supporting improvements in process and performance on the equipment.
  • To maintain reporting procedures and documentation, e.g., problems with files; times plates delivered to press room, contact with customers, changes to priorities, problems with equipment, complaints, etc.
  • To ensure that all the CTP equipment, both hardware and software, is performing to its optimum and advise Management of any problems. In particular, the maintenance of the plate processing lines and the routines to ensure the plate setters and image setters output accurate information.

Ideally the suitable candidate will have:

  • An excellent working knowledge of pre-press software, ideally Kodak Prinergy and Preps Imposition software.
  • Knowledge of all artwork, pre-press, imposition and repro procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and unsupervised.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet customer deliveries.
  • Effective problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Commercial Team, comprising of Estimators and Account Managers, you will develop skills in these areas, to provide support to both our Customers and Sales Team.
  • You will manage queries and revision of quotations, supporting the Sales Team in the Order Winning process.
  • After developing base estimating skills, you will then learn to convert estimates to internal jobs and then begin to manage some of these projects from receipt of artwork through to delivery and invoicing.
  • Throughout your development you will provide general administrative support to the Commercial Team that will help build your skills and knowledge.

Technical Knowledge, Key Skills and Personal Attributes:

Our office-based staff work closely with marketing managers, creative directors and production teams, identifying innovative and creative marketing solutions. Then, using the latest equipment, technology and expertise, our production teams will turn these ideas and campaign briefs into premium printed products such as catalogues and brochures for some of the best known, high street brands and online retailers.

Our apprenticeship schemes offer planned training, both on and off the job, leading to an NVQ qualification and a rewarding career.
