Antoinette Cragg joins the print apprenticeship scheme at Pindar

17 year old Antoinette Cragg (Toni) has joined the expanding press room team at Pindar.

Toni initially started to study for her A levels at the local sixth form college but decided that she would prefer to pursue a practical apprenticeship. Seeing the advert on the National Apprenticeship website she applied and was successful in obtaining the position.

Toni is part of a mixed workforce but is the first female print apprentice at Pindar. She joins several other apprentices working in print finishing, printing and engineering.

Toni explains, “I’ve always been interested in mechanics and engineering and as I had good GCSE grades I thought I should go into higher education first. When I saw the advert for the apprenticeship at Pindar I knew it was something I wanted to do and it was too good an opportunity to miss – so applied and now I’m here. I’d recommend an apprenticeship to other girls my age. Training on the job with time served printers is definitely the best way to learn.”

Toni is working towards her NVQ in machine printing with learn2print.
